LMC/Qualmec is close to the first milestone in the contract with Voith Siemens Énergie Hydraulique!
All of the construction activities-including the civil, concrete modifications, mechanical, piping, instrumentation and electrical work-are the responsibility of LMC/Qualmec. The project is at the Hydro Québec dam located in La Tuque, Québec on the Saint Maurice River. "This is a major contract that will allow us to have a team on site over the next three years as the replacement of the turbine groups will be done at a rate of one per year," explains Denis Robert, President and General Manager of Qualmec. "This is a major step in expanding Qualmec's project portfolio to include all the aspects of the energy sector."
The La Tuque generating station was originally built in 1938-1940. This second phase of Hydro Québec's refurbishment project will add about 51 megawatts to installed capacity, for a total of 271 megawatts. La Tuque is one of four hydroelectric power stations in the Haut-Saint-Maurice region of Québec.
Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation is a global leader today in hydropower equipment and services. As an experienced partner to power plant operators, the German company provides everything from individual components to complete customized concepts, from turnkey delivery of new plants to the modernization of existing power stations.
